The Veil Classes Guide
Eight class names now appear in launch-week gameplay. The larger decision is whether to keep one class's full buff or mix selected abilities into a hybrid.
How classes work now
You can unlock more than one standard class and switch outside combat. A hybrid can equip selected moves from different classes, but launch-build gameplay shows that doing so removes the full-class bonus.
Classes Explained and Hybrid Class Guide
A concise recorded explanation of class requirements, standard classes and how hybrid class loadouts work in the launch build.
All currently observed class names
The first seven form the repeatedly documented standard list. Cultist appears separately in recorded trainer routes and ability showcases, so this page includes it without pretending the public list is final. Launch guides call the poison-and-healing class Florist, while a newer all-class route calls the same Glade trainer's class Verdant and briefly refers to it as Druid. The combined label below keeps that unresolved naming conflict visible. Duskwing has the same problem: a written guide calls it Nightshade, and the September 10 player reached for that name too before admitting on camera that he was not sure what the trainer was called.
| Class | Path | Observed role |
|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Sin | Direct melee damage and a rage-style power window |
| Duskwing | Sin | Mobility, grappling and evasive play |
| Hive Disciple | Sin | Rot pressure and damage over time |
| Sky Sentinel | Offering | Summons and ranged support |
| Crusader | Offering | Healing, protection and team support |
| Florist / Verdant | Offering | Poison, healing and area control |
| Marauder | Mixed | Speed and mobility |
| Cultist | Sin | Sanity pressure, illusions and dark summoning |
Every class trainer, requirement and payment
Need Sin or Offerings first? Every row below is gated on one of them before anything else. The Sin and Offering farming guide has the crypt loop, the Explorer choice and the one-for-one trade that converts the resource you do not need.
Two independent route recordings and a written guide with its own captures agree on the table below. A September 10 all-class run covered seven of the eight trainers on camera and again showed a 30 Sin gate and a 1,000-silver payment, which is the same pair of numbers a September 8 route recorded. Trainer names come from a written guide that photographs each NPC.
| Class | Trainer and place | To start | Quest | Payment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Verdant / Florist | Briar The Glade garden near spawn | 30 Offerings | Bring a Hiveling Arm, a Fire Essence and a Cyst Worm | 1,000 silver |
| Gladiator | Vorax Echo Hold | 30 Sin | Kill 30 goblins and hand over a Gladiator’s Locket | 1,000 silver |
| Hive Disciple | Hiveling Corpse Broken-down church inside The Cyst | 30 Sin | Follow the Putrid Symbiote chain, then kill 50 Hivelings | 1,000 silver |
| Cultist | Hidden trainer Secret room behind the Weeping Crypt | 30 Sin | 75 kills inside the crypt | 1,000 silver |
| Marauder | Prison trainer Iron Keep main building | 15 Sin + 15 Offerings | Timed run across the map to Echo Hold | 1,000 silver |
| Sky Sentinel | Sapphron Leftmost island at Sky’s Reach | 30 Offerings | Kill five Angry Nimbuses during rain | No silver payment recorded |
| Crusader | Elian The Glade church | 30 Offerings | Slay 25 wraiths | 1,000 silver |
| Duskwing / Nightshade | Asmodeus The Lone Pillar, night only | 30 Sin | Kill 100 mobs | 1,000 silver |
You can hold more than one class quest at once, so it is worth accepting every trainer you pass while the alignment currency is still building. Night Call potions, which several of these quests effectively require, can be bought at Echo Hold rather than only found.
All Eight Class Trainer Routes
A September 8 route recording covering all eight class trainers. It is also the clearest visual evidence for the unresolved Florist, Verdant and Druid naming conflict.
The Veil class tier list: PvE versus PvP
There is no honest one-column class ranking because the launch meta changes sharply between bosses and player fights. A September 7 recorded tier discussion put Crusader first for PvE sustain, with Gladiator, Duskwing and Florist supplying damage or safety. Marauder was its weakest PvE pick because speed alone does little during a boss damage window.
For PvP, the same recording moved Hive Disciple and Cultist to the top because rot, control and sanity pressure matter more against players. Duskwing and Marauder gain value from mobility and combo entry, while Crusader's team sustain and Florist's PvE-oriented bonuses become less decisive in a one-on-one fight.
| Goal | Strong current direction | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Boss / group PvE | Crusader sustain; Gladiator damage; Duskwing safety | Marauder has no direct damage or healing move in the recorded kit |
| Solo PvE | Gladiator for damage or Crusader for recovery | Florist and Hive Disciple depend more on enemies remaining vulnerable to their damage-over-time effects |
| PvP | Hive Disciple or Cultist pressure; Duskwing or Marauder mobility | Crusader and Florist lose some of their PvE/team advantage |
| Hybrid | A mobility move, a heal or defensive aura, then one damage/control tool | You give up the full single-class bonus |
The September 7 discussion is one informed community snapshot, and several placements changed during the recording itself. Use it to narrow a build, then test the current tooltips and cooldowns before paying a trainer.
Single class or hybrid?
A single-class loadout keeps that class's passive bonus. A hybrid gives up that bonus to combine selected learned moves. Recorded launch gameplay demonstrates switching between unlocked classes outside combat and then equipping a move from another class to create a hybrid.
- Stay single-class when the passive buff is central to your damage, speed or summon plan.
- Go hybrid when a second class supplies a move that solves a bigger problem than the lost passive.
- Unlock first, mix later. Learn one kit before spending currency and quest time on a second trainer.
Can you change classes?
Recorded launch gameplay shows unlocked classes being swapped outside combat without restarting the character. A class reset is different: Kharvos is reported as the reset NPC and requires a trade. The exact reset cost was not reliably confirmed at this check.
Match the class to your race
Pair the class role with a race effect rather than chasing a tier label by itself:
- Casting and ability uptime: Goblin and Underling provide the clearest observed support.
- Summons: Gemhead directly improves summon damage and life.
- Durability: Obelite offers the strongest defensive package in the launch data.
- Flexible scaling: Human adds maximum health per prestige level, which is why a Common race keeps turning up in serious builds.
Some articles report 20 Sins or Offerings and a 500-silver payment. Every gameplay recording checked so far — September 6, September 8 and again on September 10 — shows 30 and 1,000 instead. Treat 20/500 as the outlier, and still read the trainer prompt in your current server before grinding to a fixed number.

These are community-recorded routes from the current beta, not a complete official class list. Requirements can change without warning.
Duskwing
Asmodeus stands on top of the Lone Pillar statue and only appears at night; an empty pillar in daylight is the expected result. 30 Sin, 100 mob kills and 1,000 silver. The kit is an ethereal dash, a blinding counter and a grappling tendril aura, published under both the Duskwing and Nightshade names with conflicting 50% and 75% figures attached. → Full Duskwing route, farming spot and naming conflict
Gladiator
Vorax runs this class out of Echo Hold. Entry is 30 Sin, the quest is 30 goblin kills plus a Gladiator's Locket handed over as a gift, and the payment is 1,000 silver. Goblins come fastest during a goblin raid in the Glade. The locket is the part worth planning: the September 8 route and a written guide both say it drops from Armored Skeletons in the Weeping Crypt, while the September 10 player saw goblin warriors drop it during a raid and ultimately accepted one from another player in a trade. Gladiator has no special dash at all; everything sits in a rage-style damage aura and a forward kick that launches the target. The aura's damage figure is genuinely unsettled — one recording says 65%, the other reads 25% off the tooltip after being told it was 50%.
Cultist
A hidden trainer beyond the Weeping Crypt, 30 Sin, a 75-enemy crypt quest and 1,000 silver. The showcase kit is Intercepting Domain, False Image and Shade Tear — it spends your own sanity or health to blind and pressure sanity, which makes it a specialist rather than a safe default. → Full Cultist route and why its quest farms itself
Crusader
Elian runs this class out of the church near spawn: 30 Offerings, a 25-wraith quest and 1,000 silver. The displayed kit is Holy Step, Healing Aura and Sacred Sanctuary, described in game around healing and protection, and it is the shortest trainer trip on this list. → Full Crusader route and PvE placement
The route details above come from launch-week and second-week gameplay captures. Confirm the trainer prompt and cost in your current server before grinding the requirement.
