The Veil Beginner Guide
Your first goal is not to rush deep into the labyrinth. Learn the spawn town, keep your free rerolls and enter the maze with a build direction.
Your first five moves
Load a slot, redeem RELEASE, find the Stylist, keep a usable race, then make a short daytime maze run before committing to a class.
- Create a character slot. Treat the first session as reconnaissance. Learn movement and combat before risking progress deeper in the maze.
- Redeem the launch code. Open the in-game shop and use RELEASE for six Race Rerolls and the Party Hat.
- Find the Stylist. This spawn-town NPC opens race rerolls. Check the race table before spending anything.
- Choose a direction. Casting, summons, defense and long-term prestige scaling want different races. A good match beats rerolling only for rarity.
- Make a short first descent. Learn horde timing, retreat routes and where the safe area ends. Do not carry a new build straight into the deepest route.
- Delay the Ultra decision. Super class setups are flexible; Ultra classes are a commitment. Read the class rules before accepting one.
Sanity and the day-night cycle
Launch-week documentation reports that sanity drains at night; an early patch corrected unintended daytime drain. Campfires and sanity potions are community-reported recovery options. Until the beta stabilizes, plan shorter night trips and verify recovery behavior in your current server.
PvP and outlaws
The official experience describes both PvE hordes and danger from outlaws in PvP. The safe approach is to treat players outside town as unknown, protect a route back and avoid carrying progress you cannot afford to lose while learning the map.
Common beginner mistakes
- Burning every race reroll before choosing a class direction.
- Assuming a higher rarity automatically fits the current build.
- Entering at night without learning a retreat path.
- Committing to an Ultra class before confirming its skills and reset trade.
- Following a guide without checking its date during the fast-moving beta.
