VEILOWEEN Event Guide: The Haunted Keep
VEILOWEEN is The Veil's Halloween event. It runs from October 10 at 18:00 UTC to November 7 at 19:00 UTC. You farm Candy, use it to light three statues for the Witch of Veil-O-Ween, then spend 100 Candy to enter the Haunted Keep, a 15-wave defence ending in a megaboss. Launch recordings show 75,000 HP; a later recording shows 100,000 HP. Route and boss figures come from October 10–14 recordings; later item and loadout observations are dated separately. Beta values can change.
How to start the event
Talk to the Witch of Veil-O-Ween and take her quest. Kill pumpkin-headed enemies in the Veil for Candy, offer 25 Candy at each of three statues, then go back to her and pay 100 Candy to queue for the Haunted Keep. Bosses come at waves 5, 10 and 15. The wave 15 megaboss has been recorded with 75,000 and 100,000 HP; watch its grab attack. Read the inventory-loss warning above before running the Keep. Code VEILOWEEN grants 5 Race Rerolls.
The route, step by step
- Talk to the Witch of Veil-O-Ween. A large on-screen marker points to her. Pick the third dialogue option to take the event quest.
- Collect Candy. Kill enemies in the Veil that carry a pumpkin on their head. Candy goes to a counter, not your inventory, and does not drop every time.
- Light the three statues. Offer 25 Candy at each statue in Sky's Reach, the Cyst and Crumbling Ring near the Puppeteer. On-screen arrows point to them.
- Return to the Witch. Tell her the statues are lit. This unlocks the queue for the Haunted Keep.
- Queue for the Haunted Keep. Entry costs 100 Candy. Parties of up to six can queue together, or you can go in alone.
- Survive 15 waves. Clear the kill count each wave. A boss comes every five waves. The wave 15 megaboss has been recorded with 75,000 HP in launch runs and 100,000 HP in later footage; party scaling has not been tested.
Two creators recorded this same sequence on launch day. The 25-Candy statue price and the Witch's third dialogue option come from one of them. The 100-Candy entry fee is in both.
How to get Candy
Enemies in the Veil can spawn with a pumpkin on their head. Kill those and an orange drop gives you Candy. It goes to a counter rather than your inventory, so do not look for it in your bag. It is not a guaranteed drop: one creator sat on 99 for several kills before reaching 100.
- Farm the Cyst. One creator suggests it because you do not have to wait for night there, and one of the statues is in it anyway.
- Daily event quests also pay Candy, according to the developer's update log. One recording shows a quest paying out 120 partway through a Keep run.
- The Haunted Keep itself pays far more than open-world farming once you are in. The same creator went from 270 to 600 Candy between two waves.
- There is a Candy shop. One creator says its stock refreshes about every 12 hours.
Another starting spot: frostie67's October 11 recording recommends the Weeping Crypt with a Nightfall Potion before unlocking the Keep. The advice appears as text at 0:35, over open-world farming footage. It is one player's suggestion; the video does not measure Candy per minute or compare it with the Cyst. Save 175 Candy for your first entry: 75 for the statues and another 100 for the queue.
The three statues
The Witch's quest asks you to light three statues. Each one takes 25 Candy, so 75 in total before you can even queue. Arrows on screen point to the next statue. One creator found the arrows buggy and says they update if you run towards the centre of the map.
All three locations are now shown in independent recordings. SigmaDuck labels each area on screen; StrawBoy and OyO also describe the same three spots.
| Statue | Where to look | Recorded route |
|---|---|---|
| Sky's Reach | Behind the gem NPC's pavilion, on a lower ledge marked by a gold beam. | 16:10 — Sky's Reach |
| The Cyst | A stone ledge in the Cyst, marked by the same gold beam. | 16:30 — the Cyst |
| Crumbling Ring | Near the Puppeteer encounter in the Veil. | 17:15 — Crumbling Ring |
The earlier “clown boss” description refers to the Puppeteer's area. These recordings show where to go, but do not establish that the buggy quest arrows have been fixed.
The Haunted Keep
The Keep costs 100 Candy to enter, and the queue shows up to six players. You can go in alone. It is a wave defence: each wave asks for a kill count, and new enemy types join as the waves go on. One solo recording counted 30 kills for wave 1, 45 for wave 2, 52 for wave 3 and 54 for wave 4. That creator thought the counts do not shrink for a smaller party, but nobody has tested it.
- Wave 5 boss: roughly 1,500 HP in one recording, and easy. It dropped a Jack O' Bomb in two separate runs, which matches the Jack O' Mare's drop table below, so it is probably that boss. Neither recording names it.
- Wave 10 boss: the Haunted Tree. Named in two recordings. It kills summons quickly.
- Wave 15: the event megaboss. Three launch recordings show 75,000 HP, but the health bar in EZConstableOnTop's October 13 recording at 2:40 shows a 100,000 HP maximum. These are different recorded runs, not a controlled party-scaling test. The Bestiary name remains ??? in the checked footage; two creators call it the Lord of the Bones in commentary.
Mummies, Witches, Reapers and Vampires show up in the later waves. Reapers spawn their own minions, which drags waves out if you leave them alive.
How the megaboss fight went
EZConstableOnTop and Dist0rted uploaded the same duo clear. Their advice, in their own words: watch out for the grab, which is "so hard to even dodge" and can chain into a second grab. Kill the Witches it summons straight away. Keep looking at the boss rather than the minions, and keep moving clockwise around it. They beat it on their second attempt, and one of them thinks a duo is the sweet spot, because a bigger party may give it even more health. That scaling is still a guess.
Soloing it as melee: read the flashes
EZConstableOnTop's October 12 solo melee guide is a full kill, about 16 minutes of uncut fight. He says he can now beat it solo consistently with 290 to 340 health. His read of the cues:
| Cue | Attack | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| Red flash with its own sound | The big swing or the grab | Dash (Q). Every grab can be dashed, even when it chains several in a row. |
| Blue flash | A single swing | Dodge with F. He calls this one the least important. |
| Four yellow orbs flying at you | They pin you so the hand can grab | Jump, double jump, then dash away once or twice. |
None of its attacks ask you to jump on a green flash. His other rules: always keep the camera on the boss or you will miss the orbs, run in one direction around it while your AoE skills chip it down, and kill Witches on sight unless going for one would get you killed. If minions trap you in a combo, Backlash (G) gets you out about half the time. His tip for the reward: open your inventory before the kill, and you can change equipment while the Witch is talking.
His build is Convergence, Vampiric Talisman for healing, Blood Pact (or Festering Shield for its resistance and stun resistance), Vamp Cape (or any movement item), Evasion Scarf for the extra dash and Unyielding Darkness, which can dash you out of a grab. Save your heal for right after a grab. He leaves out Rampaging Rib Cage because it costs too much survivability. This is one player's loadout, and he says the fight is still hard and slow even when you know it.
A recorded summoner setup
Pot Guy's October 11 build showcase lists Weeping Sore, Nimbus Cloud, Staff of the Hive and Witchlight on screen. He recommends +20% stun resistance or Spooky Convict, and says Soul Shroud is an alternative outfit. His advice is to time your dash instead of spamming it, and keep the class skill, Nimbus Cloud and Staff of the Hive available around a grab so you can recover health.
This is one creator's setup, not a proven best build. He says his solo clear happened off camera, and the recording ends with a death after repeated grabs. It supports the loadout and the advice shown, but does not demonstrate a successful solo clear or a guaranteed escape from every grab.
Every player gets their own chest at the end, and nobody else can open it.
A 95% cast cooldown showcase
Pot Guy's October 13 showcase shows −95% Cast Cooldown Boost on his character panel while using Chaos Stone. He demonstrates repeated casts during Keep waves, then compares the megaboss fight with and without the stone. He suggests replacing it with Pumpking or Arcane Rune in the later boss comparison; the damage labels are from his own edited comparison, not a controlled test. He recommends the setup for dungeons only. The 96–97% figure he mentions requires Devil's Contract, which he says he does not own, so it is not demonstrated. See the Chaos Stone section for the damage and resistance costs.
A recorded tank-and-mage duo clear
Pot Guy's October 14 duo recording pairs a defensive teammate with his 95% cast-cooldown mage. His on-screen tank list names Flesh Knuckles, The Convergence, The Bell, Prosthetic Arm, Turtle Shell, Obelite, Unyielding Darkness and Tome of Protection. The mage uses Deadlight during earlier waves; at 2:15 he recommends switching to Staff of the False Sun from wave 11 while the tank holds enemies' attention. His narration shortens the name to “Staff of the Sun”; his October 15 follow-up labels it Staff of the False Sun on screen.
The edited recording shows the wave 15 fight and reward chests at about 5:50, supporting this as one completed duo example. It does not establish the best build, a guaranteed clear or a resistance-stacking formula. The mage still takes a dangerous boss attack at 3:50; the on-screen caption credits Pillarfall with saving him. Keep watching the boss even when a tank is in front.
Checked October 15, 2026 against the original English captions and gameplay frames. The listed gear is the creator's description of his teammate; its individual resistance values were not independently measured.
Later loadout observation, checked October 18: Pot Guy's October 17 recording shows a different set: Flesh Knuckles, The Bell, Gladiator's Locket, Shackles, Prosthetic Arm and enhanced Unyielding Darkness. At 1:07 his whole-character panel reads +55% Resistance Boost. His narration attributes the night bonus to Hiveling and quotes 44% by day; only the 55% panel is shown here. The edited group fight and reward sequence support a personal example, not a resistance-stacking formula, solo clear or proof that the inventory-loss issue is fixed.
Veiloween Walkthrough And Final Boss Kill
A duo clears all 15 waves of the Haunted Keep and kills the VEILOWEEN megaboss on launch day, then opens the reward chests and reads the Witch's Dullahan offer.
Boss drops and drop rates
The game's Bestiary has a Veil-O-Ween tab that shows each event enemy's drops and odds once you have killed it. These were read off that tab in a launch-day recording at 720p. Where a line was too blurry to read, it is left out rather than guessed.
| Boss | Drop | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Megaboss (wave 15) | Wicked Broom | 1 in 4 |
| Devil's Contract (Legendary) | 1 in 60 | |
| The Unblinking Eye (Mythic) | 1 in 75 | |
| Jack O' Mare (likely wave 5) | Jack O' Bomb | 1 in 5, max 1 |
| Pumpking | 1 in 100 | |
| Haunted Tree (wave 10) | Spine Of Dread (Elite) | Not readable |
Jack O' Mare has a third drop in blue text that could not be read. The 1 in 75 for The Unblinking Eye matches what the player says out loud when it drops for his partner.
Spine Of Dread is a melee weapon. Its tooltip reads damage 22, critical damage 24, Attack Speed 1.1, delay 0.45 and critical delay 0.5, and its description marks it as obtainable only in this year's Halloween event. The stat label is Attack Speed, not a measured cooldown; tank lover's October 17 panel independently shows the same five values. Devil's Contract and The Unblinking Eye carry the same event-availability line.
Killing the event bosses also counts towards Bestiary achievements. The Haunted Tree's are Timber!, Uprooted and Root Of All Evil for 5, 10 and 20 kills. The Jack O' Mare's are Trick Or Treat, Carved Up and Smashing Pumpkins at the same counts. Each gives +10% damage against that boss.
Other items named on screen or out loud in the reward chests include Pitchfork (rare) and Nightglass Staff. The mask formerly transcribed here as “Hive Wing” is labelled Hiveling Mask on the readable panel in tank lover's October 17 showcase at 10:15. Pot Guy's launch-day showcase covers Wicked Broom and Spooky Convict; the later panels below give their limits more precisely than that spoken overview.
Event items and outfit tooltips
Checked October 18, 2026: tank lover's October 17 video displays eight event weapon panels, including Pumpking, Hallowcurve, Gallow's Perch and Gourdkeeper. The accessory table records Bat Wings, Devil Horns, Witch Hat, Vampire Cape, Pumpkin, Devil's Contract and The Unblinking Eye. Their panels carry the Veiloween 2026 availability line. The video does not show a complete acquisition route or establish all 23 items and their drop sources.
Spooky Convict: its panel at 12:15 lists +15% universal damage, +8% resistance and +15% stun resistance. Jailbreak says it breaks grapples 60% sooner; breaking out sets you on fire and grants +30% speed for 3 seconds, then goes on a 20-second cooldown. This is a limited grapple passive, not immunity to every stun or grab.
Hollow Rider is shown as an Elite outfit in the panel at 11:43. Its kill-triggered passive gives +10% speed and +10% jump for 10 seconds, stacks up to three times and refreshes the timer on another kill. These outfit descriptions are single-recording tooltip observations, not controlled combat tests.
The event race: Dullahan
Dullahan is shown on a race panel in Johnthetechguy's October 13 upload. Its description marks it as obtainable during Veiloween 2026. The 20,000 Candy price agrees with EZConstableOnTop's Witch dialogue and OyO's earlier report. The recording shows the player selecting the Witch's 20,000-Candy option, receiving her response, then hovering a Dullahan Token in the inventory at about 1:06. It cuts to a Dullahan character afterward and does not show using the token.
The token warns that it replaces your race
This wording is visible in the game tooltip screenshot shared on the community Fan Trello card, checked October 20, 2026. Decide whether you are willing to give up your current race before using it. The screenshot does not show a completed conversion, a confirmation dialog or what happens to the former race after a later reroll.
Displayed effects, checked October 14, 2026: these are from one readable gameplay panel, not a balance test or an official specification.
- Headless: You cannot be blinded; +10% universal damage and −10% fire resistance.
- Nearby allies: The panel says you and allies within 50 studs gain −20% Insanity. Its practical effect was not measured.
- Gravecall: Calls 5 Veiloween Hivelings or Skeletons from the ground to fight beside you for 20 seconds.
The footage also shows Gravecall summons fighting training targets. Its cooldown, summon damage, reroll behaviour and any extra purchase requirement remain unverified. The creator's “4 days” farming caption is personal elapsed time, not a Candy-per-hour benchmark.
Dullahan panel, Gravecall and the Witch's offer
One October 13 upload shows Dullahan's displayed effects, Gravecall summons and the Witch's 20,000-Candy exchange followed by a Dullahan Token in the inventory. Token use is not shown.
The other new race, Vampire, is a regular race rather than an event one. Both are on the race page.
Event enemies in the Bestiary
The Veil-O-Ween tab lists Crow, Devil, Haunted Tree, Jack O' Mare, Jack O' Wisp, Mummy, Reaper, Vampire and Witch, plus the unnamed megaboss. The update log counts 7 new event mobs, 2 event bosses and 1 megaboss.
What is not confirmed
- The megaboss's name. The Bestiary shows “???”, including after a kill. “Lord of the Bones” comes from two creators' commentary.
- Whether the statue arrows have been fixed. All three locations are shown above.
- The complete Dullahan conversion. The tooltip warns that the token replaces your race, but the use sequence, confirmation dialog and later reroll behaviour are not recorded. Skill cooldown and measured summon damage are also unknown.
- Whether wave sizes or boss health scale with party size. Two creators guessed in opposite directions.
- What the 23 limited items are. The log gives the number only. This page names the ones that have appeared on screen.
- The full WANDERER FELLED route. Its official description says to repossess an old suit of armor with the Veil's energies and lay its awakened spirit to rest; it does not give the item or location.
WAVE 15 SURVIVED is confirmed: the official badge description explicitly awards it for surviving the 15th wave of the Haunted Keep trial in VEILOWEEN 2026. Both new badges were enabled when checked on October 12.
October 12 additions: all three statue locations were checked against SigmaDuck's October 10 footage, 16:10–17:35, StrawBoy's October 10 overview, 0:24–0:44 and OyO's October 11 review, 1:34–1:49. The Candy starting spot is written on screen in frostie67's October 11 video; it provides no timed yield comparison. Pot Guy's October 11 summoner video was checked against its original English captions and footage: loadout at 0:08–0:11, grab advice at 0:15–0:22, resistance and skill rotation at 0:52–1:15, off-camera-clear caveat at 1:20–1:29, death near 1:54. OyO's 20,000-Candy report is at 1:20–1:29. The two badge descriptions were read from their WAVE 15 SURVIVED and WANDERER FELLED API records on October 12. The launch-day figures retain their original observation date.
📜︱updates channel at 2026-10-10T17:30:05Z. The launch post naming the Witch of Veil-O-Ween is in the news channel at 18:00:15Z. Both were read on October 11.The route and the Keep are from two launch-day recordings, read through their English captions: Deepshaken's update talk (the third dialogue option, 25 Candy per statue, the Cyst and clown-boss statues, the buggy arrows, the 12-hour shop) and complete event progression (the 100-Candy entry, the six-player queue, the solo wave counts, the 1,500 HP wave 5 boss, the Haunted Tree, the 75,000 HP figure and Reapers spawning minions), and EZConstableOnTop's walkthrough and final boss kill (the 100-Candy entry, the megaboss, the chests and the Witch's dialogue at 12:42). The megaboss advice is from that duo and from Dist0rted's upload of the same fight. The Wicked Broom and Spooky Convict notes are from Pot Guy's October 10 showcase.
The drop table, the Spine Of Dread tooltip, the achievements and the Bestiary list were read off the Bestiary panel in EZConstableOnTop's video between 0:22 and 0:46, from a 720p frame; the screenshot above is a crop of one of those frames. These are beta values from one live server on October 10, not an official specification.
