Gemhead Race in The Veil

+10% summon damage and +15% summon life give it the cleanest dedicated summoner package.

Should you keep Gemhead?

Keep it if you intend to summon. It is specialized rather than universally strong.

Gemhead effect

Resonant Core grants +10% summon damage and +15% summon life.

What the numbers come to

The +15% summon life is the more valuable half, and it is the half most summoner guides undersell. A summon that dies at 70% of a fight contributes 70% of its damage no matter how large its damage bonus is, so survivability multiplies uptime while damage only multiplies the seconds you already had.

Put another way: +10% damage on a summon that survives the whole fight is worth +10%. The same +10% on a summon that dies halfway is worth +5% of a full summon. The life bonus is what stops the damage bonus from being quietly discounted.

Neither number does anything for your own weapon hits or casts. On a loadout with no summons this race is a blank roll rather than a weak one, which is a sharper downside than any of the C-tier races here actually carry.

Best build fit

Summoner builds, especially when your class and equipment already produce reliable summons.

Tradeoffs to check

Both bonuses depend on summons. A melee or pure cast loadout receives no direct general damage increase.

Gemhead compared with Skeleton

Skeleton offers the identical +10% summon damage plus +10% movement speed, but pays -5% resistance for it and gives nothing to summon survivability. For a summoner the comparison is close to one-sided: Gemhead buys the same offence with no defensive bill and adds the life bonus Skeleton lacks.

Open the Skeleton profile for the other side of that trade.

When to reroll Gemhead

Reroll if you have committed to a melee or pure-cast loadout, because this is one of the few races that can contribute literally nothing. Keep it through any build that still has summons in it, even as a secondary source.

A reroll replaces your race rather than adding a second one. The steps are on the race index.
